Rocket Project
Rocket Reflection
Over the past two weeks in physics we have been in the process of putting hard labor into creating a rocket which will deploy and upsurge towards the celestial sphere. I under took many challenges to succeed in the project. I deeply believe that mistakes are what make you succeed. I had this well grounded into my thoughts throughout the whole process. The two main disputed points that made this project complicated that I should have done in a more orderly way was underestimating our abilities, and also procrastinating in our time limit, that should have been spent in a more positive useful way.
I think underestimating our abilities made us feel not as powerful and capable of trying hard to make a useful rocket. Being able to believe in yourself makes it easier to progress knowing you are capable of doing what you are working on. I would look around at everyone else’s rockets, and they would look so much more mature than ours. This made us realize we were going no where and couldn’t undertake the challenge of the project witch made us fall behind. Next time I have a project I plan on keeping myself positive and not giving up on my abilities.
I also think that our time could have been spent in a better way. We had nearly three weeks to complete this project. With all of the distractions going on it was hard for us to focus and work hard on the rocket. Dave could find us dancing in the hallways to pretending to walk around the building “looking for ducktape.” I think spending your time wisely is super important in accomplishing a project. I learned waiting till the last moment creates pressure and you don’t get as much out of the project. Next time I plan on keeping focused and not letting distractions get in my way. Also realizing my time limit and how I can fit enough time in my schedule to finish it.
In all I really enjoyed the project. I gained strength and knowledge throughout the process of making mistakes and I learned how to fix those in the future. Thanks to our classmates I finished my rocket in time, and had a successful launch. I really enjoyed my first exhibition. I like being able to show my fellow classmates and parents what I had accomplished, but also I enjoyed being able to spend time with my classmates and friends watching the rockets. My favorite part of this project was the individual work time we got to build our rockets I enjoyed being independent and being in a hands on learning environment. I hope you take my flaws in the project into consideration to help you with your rocket project!

Rocket Log
Day 1: We sketched our plan for our rocket and made a list of materials that
we will need to make it. Our theme is the beach and it has palm trees and the
beach and a mermaid.
Day 2: Today we got our bottles and melted them together. We sanded the
bottles, and we started making a plan for our nose cone and
parachute.
Day 3: We took our rocket home and put a mermaid and all of our beach plans
on our rockets.
Day 4: Today we made our nose cone and parachute. We went out side and
we tested our rockets parachute, it didn’t work so we made another.
Day 5: Today we went outside to test our rockets. We couldn’t because when we
filled up our rocket, it leaked.
Day 6: Today we realized that our rocket was leaking. And we needed to fix
the leak because it was huge. We bought new bottles and redid the glue.
Day 7: Today we tried to launch our rocket again and it only went about 3-4
feet high. We cut off half of the bottom rocket and added another bottle that
wasn’t cut at all. It made a big difference.
Day 8: Today we added fins to our rocket. Since we didn’t have a lot of time
to do our original plan of using plexiglass. So we used circular plastic tubes
as fins and they worked great. We also measured our rocket.
