Final Algebra Reflection
Generating Ideas:
Throughout Algebra 2 this year, generating ideas has been a huge part of problem solving and critical thinking. My strength in generating ideas has grown through personal work. When I work individualy on my own work I am able to generate ideas for my own benefit, because I am relying on just myself to finish the assignment. My weakness in generating ideas comes from group work in math. This is unique for me because I think of myself as a leader than rather a follower but this skill doesn't show up much in math. When I am involved in group work I seem to rely on the group to generate ideas and critically think while I stay back and watch, this is because there are other people I can rely on, and its not something where I need to rely on my self to succeed. This has made math challenging and un rewarding by not feeling self accomplished. This piece of work specifically shows my strength of generating ideas by generating the idea of color coding to help myself succeed. When I don't understand something in math and need clarity, I am able to generate my own ideas.
Communicating thinking in a clear and accessible way:
Communication is a hige part of being successful in math because of the amount of collaboration we encounter with classmates. I have strongly grown with communicating my thinking in clear ways to my classmates when I have an idea or an urge to show someone something. I think my skill in communicating clearly has grown through engagement. When I am engaged I want to communicate with others. My weakness in this skill comes from my un engagement in class. There are so many times when I feel like I just need to get through math class and keep a good grade by doing quality work. Math class has always been the class I am least engaged in from a small age. Being unengaged leads to being a follower and a weakness in communicating with others clearly because I usually let them communicate to me clearly instead. I was able to show this skill this year through POW's in section 3. Section 3 in my POWS allowed me to give a step by step clear answer.
Recognizing and resolving errors:
Recognizing and resolving errors has become a big part of who I am in school. Because I have a strong work ethic I like to turn in quality work. Turning in quality work takes refinement, and awareness of errors. When a paper is given back to me with marked mistakes I immediately resolve them to the best I can and get help. When I am engaged in my learning I am more likely to want to know the mistakes I have made to make math make sense. My weakness in recognizing and resolving errors comes from my ability to motivate myself to confront my teacher. There is a lot of time when I tell myself I have no time to get help from the teacher, but this comes out of laziness and lack of advocacy. Again, my lack of advocacy seems to show the most in math.

Reflecting and synthesizing:
Reflecting and synthesizing has become a huge part of math class this year. I believe that I am very good with reflecting on myself. There were many times this year when I was unable to be proud of myself and my work in Algebra 2, but I was still able to be aware of my mistakes and synthesize on areas I wanted to improve on. My weakness in reflecting and synthesizing comes from not being able to synthesize deeply on ways I can improve my struggles in algebra 2. I am able to reflect on my weaknesses but synthesizing enough to make an action plan is very difficult for me.
